All about that Judas Gospel

I had the opportunity to watch on TV the National Geographic special on the Gospel of Judas. I was a little bit jolted in knowing that there exist such a gospel. And there were still others that were actually not recognized by the Catholic Church. I studied in a Catholic schools during my elementary and high school. During those times, I have never heard nor it was thought to us there were actually many gospels. The only gospels that I am familiar is the four traditional gospels. I will not say for now that my faith has been affected by this new findings but rather quite surprise as to why these things about the other gospels were not mentioned to us in the schools. A little research I made states that the four gospels in the bible are the authoritative or canonical gospels and that the others are considered apocryphal or not authoritative. But again, whatever happens, it will still boils down to your faith, your relationship with other people and how did you able to make a difference in this world. In heaven, I think God will not ask you what kind of car you had but rather did you share your car for others to ride?

Some Things Money Can't Buy

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to have a get together with some family members. We went to a small restaurant and ordered some cold snacks and refreshments. It was quite a hot day since it was already summertime. The kids went with us and it was a happy moment. The kid's laughter really filled the air. Some interesting topics and concerns were discussed. But all in all, whats made it a very special day is the feeling of being part of something beautiful. That is a family.

A Pinay bossa nova singer

A new pinay singer has recorded an album adapting the bossa nova style of music. I got a copy of the CD and I say its quite good. Bossa nova is music that has its roots in Brazil. Most popular of all bossa nova musician is Antonio Carlos Jobim. I don't quite remember a Filipino singer doing a bossa nova CD for sometime now. The only Filipino musician I can remember that recorded a bossa nova album is Bong Penera. And that was quite a long time ago. Maybe in the 70's pa while I am still in high school. Going back to the album, I'm glad that a new album of this sort came out. Bossa nova music is my favorite. Its a fusion of latin and some jazz music. There's always the improvisation part that makes the music more interesting. This album has given bossa nova a slight pinoy touch. The arrangements are though a little simple especially if you're to compare it to the original brazilian bossa nova artists. A few songs are also bordering as pop songs and not bossa nova. I guess this is just part of marketing so that a large segment of the market can be captured. If you put all bossa nova songs in the CD, only a few individuals might actually appreciate the album. They say music is food for the soul. Well, I certainly agree to it.

A very inspiring Letter

I was browsing the yahoo groups of my high school batchmates and I happen to read an email from a lady batchmate of mine and reading really touched me. She vividly described the ordeals her Japanese husband is undergoing right now. Her husband suffered a stroke or aneurism and experiecing a lot of complications from kidney problems to brain hydrocephalus. She herself even is once a victim of cancer. But I was really amazed at her deep spirituality in dealing with the challenges. She was able to put a brave front and still hopeful that eventually God's will prevail. It made look at myself and thank God's blessings. It made me appreciate what I have in life. Most important of all is good health.

An email from an old friend

Recently I just received an email from an old friend thanking me for sending her my condolence for her departed brother. She was quite happy to hear from me again for its been a long time since we have communicated. As a matter of fact she is also a batchmate of mine in high school. We also went to the same college. And in the same university, we also joined the same organization. But after graduating from college, we didnt see each other anymore. Recently, I heard that his brother died and so I sent her a condolence note. She replied and thank me for it. For whatever its worth its nice to hear from an old friend again.
